Welcome to the Deorfrith Morris website.
We have started into our practice season when we learn new dances and polish the ones we already know. You have missed our "Taster Session" in September, but you can still come along one Tuesday evening and see whether Morris Dance is something you would like to do. Or you could come along and join our musicians who play for our dances. You can find all the details of when and where below. Sadly we have had to suspend practices for the time being. How the present situation with coronavirus Covid-19 will affect our danceouts remains to be seen. Check our news page for the latest details.
Who we are and where to find us.
Deorfrith Morris is a mixed Morris side based in The New Forest in Hampshire. During the autumn and winter months we practise on Tuesday evenings at Deorfrith Lodge - the Scout Hut in Lyndhurst. During the summer, most Tuesday evenings you will find us dancing somewhere in or near the New Forest, usually outside a public house. At week-ends during the summer we may dance at folk festivals, village fetes, and other organised events - whatever takes our fancy.
We dance in several Cotswold traditions, including a couple which are rarely seen in this area; we also dance a few Border dances.
If you would like to join us, and we should be delighted to see new dancers or musicians, come along to one of our practice evenings (October to April) at the Scout Hut in Wellands Road in Lyndhurst at about 8:15 p.m.
Thank you to all of you who came along to watch us during 2019, and we look forward to seeing you again next summer.
